Careeria is a vocational education provider offering education and training for young people and adults in Uusimaa region on the south coast of Finland. JAMIX kitchen management systems have been used at Careeria’s Porvoo locations for three decades. Today, JAMIX is also used at the Herttoniemi and Tikkurila locations. JAMIX Kitchen Intelligene System supports recipe management, menu planning, inventory management, and purchasing.
Shared Recipes Across Multiple Locations
Careeria prepares approximately 2,000 meals every day across several locations. At this scale, managing recipes, production quantities, purchasing, and costs requires information to flow quickly and reliably. JAMIX plays a central role in Careeria’s daily production planning.
Nutrition Manager Isabella Sandberg is responsible for Careeria’s foodservice operations. Executive Chef Johanna Vilkman manages the JAMIX system and serves as one of its admin users together with Isabella, maintaining the shared data used across the organization.
In a multi-location operation, centrally managed recipes make everyday work significantly easier. The same dish can be prepared in different kitchens and for different quantities without each location having to calculate the recipes separately.
“The fact that we can have the same dish with recipes scaled to different quantities for three locations at the same time is a great benefit,” Johanna says.
At the Herttoniemi and Tikkurila locations, teams can also conveniently create their own purchase orders in JAMIX based on the recipes and menus in the system.
Having worked at Careeria for many years, Johanna also remembers what recipe management was like three decades ago, when calculations required considerably more manual work.
“I was so excited when JAMIX was introduced and I got to create recipes with it for the first time. We no longer had to calculate everything by hand.”
Today, JAMIX also makes it easy to communicate menus to diners. Menus planned in the system can be published effortlessly online through the JAMIX Menu service.
Making Work Easier While Reducing Costs
At Careeria, the value of JAMIX is particularly evident in how the information managed behind the scenes supports the kitchens’ everyday work. Once the necessary data has been set up in the system, it can be efficiently used across multiple locations.
As production volumes increase, the time savings provided by the system become even more significant.
“It simply makes things so much faster compared with doing everything manually. With the number of people we serve, information needs to move quickly,” Johanna says.
The continuous development of the system and the introduction of new features have made everyday work even easier.
JAMIX also helps Careeria manage costs and reduce food waste. By defining production quantities and portion sizes in the system, production can be planned more accurately according to actual demand.
“It definitely helps reduce costs and food waste when we can adjust production quantities and portion sizes based on demand,” Isabella says.
A Strong and Reliable Partnership
According to Johanna and Isabella, their cooperation with JAMIX has worked well over the years, and they know that help is available from the support team whenever they need it. Reliable support is particularly important when an issue with the system needs to be resolved quickly so that kitchen operations can continue without unnecessary delays.
“When you can explain the question clearly, JAMIX responds quickly or starts looking for a solution to resolve the issue,” Johanna says. “I don’t even remember what I’ve contacted them about because the issues have been resolved so quickly. In my experience, the support has worked really well.”
After decades of using JAMIX, Careeria’s experience comes down to one key principle: when thousands of meals are prepared across multiple locations, information needs to be shared, up to date, and easy to access and use.
